1957-59 Maintenance free means "no fluid" is needed. It does not mean that it can sit and not be charged. These are an active unit when the batteries are received. Even though they do not need charged every 30 days, such as a lead acid, they now need to be checked with a volt meter and kept in the top 50% (we send a chart with each battery). If monitored properly they should last 7-10 years. * Absolutely no small charges or maintainers should be used on the 12 volt batteries, they will reset the memory of the battery and without revering the process 2/3 of the battery will never get a charge and will deteriorate. * Absolutely no larger charges, boost or any charge over 15 volts on a 12 volt, and no higher than 8 volts on a 6 volt AGM's*. This will cause the AGM* battery to release pressure by popping its buttons, and will leak in the case and will no longer work. Even though the case will hold the leakage and will not go all over the vehicle there is no way to recover from this event. * Absolutely no fluid should ever be added to these batteries, the caps coming off are just for show. If fluid is added to the AGM*, the battery would internally short itself out. Unfortunately, if any of these incidents has occurred, their warranty is null and void. Neglect is also considered a warranty breaker. These batteries really only need a charge every 2 1/2 months, if put away at a full charge and disconnected, then 10 or 12 amp back up to full, about an hour and a half. On vehicles with alternators you can start the car and the car will charge it up. Volt meter's will become your best friend with this battery. This battery has a $45.00 ship charge. NOTE: This is a hazardous item and cannot be shipped by air or outside the Continental U.S.
